The 12 Days of Christmas starts on Thursday 3rd December

Pictured are children from Mrs Rooney's Primary 4 class, Caomhin Poland, Ciara Mc Veigh, Dean Ross and Lydia Griffin promoting the '12 Days of Christmas'.

Previously this time of year was very busy and very exciting. The school would usually be a hive of activity with practices and rehearsals for Nativity Plays and Christmas Concerts. There would be visitors coming to the school to see a performance. There would be a Carol Service - for many the event which heralds this most special time and prepares everyone for the season. Classes and children would be going out to events like the Christmas pantomime in Belfast, singing at the switching on of the Newcastle Christmas tree lights as well as the annual visits to perform in Care Homes in the town. Lest we forget the Christmas Dinner, fundraising events, Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas card competition and the Christmas Fair which 'kicks off' the season with its associated art work, numeracy and letter and story writing, etc. Altogether a very busy and hectic, yet productive period!

However, the Coronavirus pandemic has caused all schools including our own to have a rethink. The result - the '12 days of Christmas'.
