Primary 3 work with Water to learn more about Capacity

The P3s in Mr Prenter's class experimented with water to learn more about capacity. They learned that water is a liquid and that it takes the shape of whatever shape the container it is put into is.

The girls and boys played with the containers first before pouring water from one container into another. They used such phrases as full, half full and empty. After that they filled containers in as many different ways as possible. They learned that water is measured in litres and 1000 millilitres make up a litre. Half a litre is 500ml.

They found out that a litre or even 100ml can look different depending on the shape of the container. Some were surprised when guessing how much liquid would fit in a container. some containers were deceptive and held more or less than they thought.
